Antique Hatpin Description and Notes: Antique Silver Deposit Overlay Hatpin Most Lovely Powder Blue Wafer Tear Beauty Some collectors call this a silver deposit and others call it silver overlay, so I put both names. From the literature I have read, the early silver makers used the terms interchangeably. The color of powder blue symbolizes peace, tranquility, and serenity. It is a soft pastel-like shade with a hint of gray. No chips, cracks. . The head (ornament) is in excellent condition, sterling silver deposit, glass, solid connection. The stem is straight/strong. No marks observed. Overall, excellent condition. Date: late 1800s to early 1900s. Total Hatpin Length: 9 3/4" Head width: 7/8" Head length: 1 1/8". Beautiful Collectible.
