Antique Milk Glass Cameo Pin Split Stem Mount Woman Flower Feather Headdress Hat This is antique milk glass molded cameo in brass and lacquered metal frame with split stem mounting on the back. This oval pin measures 1 1/2" x 1 3/8". The cameo features profile of a beautiful woman wearing an elaborate headdress with flowers and feathers. The image is in high relief with good detail. The lacquer metal frame has some loss to black as you can see. The bezel around cameo appears to be brass metal. There is not a maker's mark. The pin has an unusual mounting devise on the back. See my photos showing the split stem devise on the back. This devise is similar to those used on military cap badges. The stem is pushed thru fabric or hat and then split apart on the other side to hold cameo pin in place. This is a very old style. The milk glass has some surface crazing. Sometimes a piece of cardboard or stiff fabric can be added to give more support. I have another pin of this style and the cardboard is original to manufacture.
