Description
Antique 1930s Hat Pin Capsule Shape Gold Multi-coloured Head w/ 65mm Brass Pin This lovely accessory is part of a family collection and dates from the 1930s. The capsule shaped head is made from wood which has been coated with some kind of plaster work or very early plastic to create a random woven textured design. The design has then been painted gold and highlighted with blobs of turquoise, red and black paint. The finished look is like a wirework cocoon. Unfortunately there is some damage to the decoration which has clearly become cracked and pieces fallen off over time. The remaining decoration has had some repair so what is remaining should be quite sound. Please study the photographs to see the extent of the problem – luckily it does have a good side! The head measures 43mm long and is 14mm at the widest point. The strong brass pin is 64mm long making the total length 107mm. The pin is slightly misshapen from use. A bobble shaped brass cap screws onto the sharp end to prevent the pin from slipping out once placed and also to protect the wearer from the sharp tip. Despite the deterioration this is still an attractive and unusual item. Thank you for visiting my listing today! International buyers please email for shipping costs to your country.
