Antique 15ct Yellow Gold Hat Pin Lucky Horseshoe - 1880s - 57.5mm - Victorian. Solid 15ct yellow gold (sterling silver pin) Hallmarked “15ct” The hat pin is in very good condition for its age. It is showing a few fine scratches and a slight amount of wear. Nothing noticeable. The hat pin is a lucky horseshoe theme. It is handmade and it is dated to the late 1880s. The gold purity of this hat pin has been tested and it was confirmed to be solid 15ct yellow gold (62.5% purity) The pin / stick was tested and it was confirmed to be sterling silver. Most hat pins would have either a brass or silver pin as those materials are stronger than gold. The hat pin has never undergone any repairs. It has had no modifications made to it either. The hat pin is showing no dents or damage. Doesn’t appear to have been used very much throughout its life. Was most likely purchased in the late 1880s, worn a few times and then kept away once the hat pin trend died away during the mid 1920s. The hat pin is 57.5mm in length The pin is 1.1mm in diameter The horseshoe is 12.8mm in length and 11.3mm in width Weight shown in photos.
